April empties

image

Hello beauties,

Against my good habits this post comes later as the weekend with 1st of May put me in the laziest mood ever. Generally speaking, your habits tell a lot about your person and under normal circumstances I would have pushed for an active schedule but lately I’m more on letting life happen and me enjoying thins as they appear. I hope your weekend was fulfilling as well.

Body:

  • Eucerin Aquaporin Active body lotion – because I use body lotions almost on a daily basis I finish them before I get to review them. Generally I like Eucerin products because of their sensitive skin friendly approach and at a point I was looking for a body lotion that could help my skin survive the winter. This lotion was mildly moisturizing (so for the dry skin areas had little effect) and a little too watery for my taste but with the all dermatological benefits (without alcohol or fragrance that might cause an irritation). I would not point this product as something I would recommend for winter time but I’m prepared to give Eucerin another try.
  • Avene cold cream – my hands are always in need of cream and during colder periods the need becomes an urge. This product was recommended by my pharmacist. I haven’t used it no my face but exclusively on my hands. After application the cream didn’t get absorbed quickly and my skin was feeling quite sticky and full of plastic smell. As for hydration, I wasn’t impressed as I didn’t feel the product is better than any other (although the price is double).

Face:

  • Nivea 3 in 1 Micelar Cleaning Water – this is my second or third bottle of micelar water from Nivea(I have also mentioned this product here) and my opinion remains as a recommendable product.
  • Nivea Cleansing Milk – this product is for me in the same category as cotton balls – something that’s primarily so useful and so good that needs no other introduction. Whenever I’m not feeling the excitement of trying something new I always chose Nivea Cleansing Milk as it does what’s supposed to do. Period.
  • Bioderma Hidrabio Riche – first I was excited about this cream but my excitement gradually decreased as the effects were less than visible so for people with my type of skin I would not favor this product (read full review here).

Makeup:

  • MaxFactor CC cream – I’m so sad that this CC cream is emptied because I got along so well with it and will probably be a repurchase (read the full review here)
  • E.L.F. Essentials Eyelid Primer – this primer was never a purchase for me but always came as a bonus whenever I placed an order on the E.L.F. site ( I have mentioned this primer also here). Unfortunately this product has done nothing for me except for a major crease and oily lids.
  • E.L.F.Face Setting Spray – this is product that I haven’t reviewed but on the other hand I haven’t bought until now any other similar product that I can compare this one to. When working with multiple layers of foundation and setting powder a real help in making the final result looking less cakey is the setting spray and this one really helps a lot considering that I’m a fan of multi-layering. I’m not sure what to say about making the products stay longer on your face because I didn’t notice any real difference. Anyhow, I’ve already purchased a second bottle but I’m opened to try different brands.

As you can see, April was a lot about care routine and natural look and I would love to read some comments about how was your April.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

February empties

imageHello beauties,

Are you ready for spring? Are you ready for a new stage in your existence? I propose to you a deal – try at least 5 minutes every day to practice gratitude for what you have, for the people around you and for what you are. Spring might help you do that, out with the old, in with the new.

Now, let’s see what we are leaving behind in February and what are we to keep for the future.

Body:

  • Bulgari Omnia Ametiste EDT – I wanted only to mention this fragrance as Omnia perfumes were one of my favorites (and still are) from Bulgari and I’m sorry to let this one go as I have enjoyed every scented drop. If you have not tried it maybe it’s time you should.
  • Dove Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena scent antiperspirant – when looking for a drugstore antiperspirant that will not cause you itches and irritations (see an example here) you might take this one into consideration.

Hair:

  • Artego Easy Care Magic Color shampoo – because I liked Artego’s Root Lifter, a couple of months ago I’ve decided to buy this shampoo for a smart maintenance of my blonde hair. It was a little bit disappointing as I felt my hair became a little dry after using this shampoo; actually not only the hair but also the scalp and so begun a period during which I started looking for solutions against a problem I have never faced before. So this is a product I would actually not recommend and will not repurchase.
  • MoroccanOil Restorative Hair Mask – this mask is a product that I absolutely love and has saved my hair from the first moemnt. When I have bought the full size product, the merchant also send me this smaller size tube that I have emptied first. You can read the full review of the product here.

Face:

  • Nivea 3 in 1 Micelar Cleaning Water – somehow I’m sorry I did not make a full review of this product as I believe it is a decent micelar water (alongside Bioderma and L’Oreal): it is apparently a well formulated product (fragrance free, it does not irritate the skin nor cause any outbreaks and it does nor dry the skin) that can do a decent cleaning job (but I would not recommend it as a sole method of cleaning the makeup and other things that remain on your skin but to combine it with a cleansing milk or a cleaning face wash or – better – both). Overall, thumbs up.
  • Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus wrinkle correcting eye cream – this was one of the big samples I was telling you about here and I got the chance of using it over a course of two weeks (during which I’ve applied it generously, otherwise it would have lasted longer). Both sample and full sized product come in jars (which is a con); it is a rich moisturizing cream that promises a lot – it does deliver a de-puffed eye area (if your problems are not congenital), a skin more firm and faded wrinkles. If this cream will be sold in a tube I would buy it in a blink. Otherwise it was a nice try.
  • Clinique Repairwear Uplifting Firming cream -another Clinique sample, another happy try (and just that). Another rich, moisturizing product from Clinique that does an incredible job, it’s fragrance free like all of their products but also comes packed in a jar that make this a total waste of money. Such a pity.

Makeup:

  • KIKO Skin Tone Corrector Primer – Definitely this will be a repurchase, first occasion comes, because it is a good product at a fair price. For a full review click here.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

October empties

Hello beauties,

So, another month has passed and the time has come to see the empties of that month with good and the bad and a lot of products apparently, most of them previously reviewed. Let’s get started:

Body

  • Elmiplant Senses Touch shower gel – this shower gel got a lot of attention at launch this summer but I’m not sure it deserved it as I’ve been using this for a couple of months and didn’t get the feeling it was doing more than any other shower gel. So no great deal about it, I didn’t feel it deserved a separate post; average drugstore product, but you can try it in lack of inspiration.
  • Herbamedicus hand creme – this was reviewed here; bottom line: it was nice to try but I will never buy this hand cream anyway
  • Vaseline body lotion – I’ve been having this body lotion during my holiday and using it as hand cream on a general basis. Although the product is mostly a sample that was meant for maximum two uses, I’ve managed to stretch it for almost two months and I declare it to be an interesting product, interesting enough to buy it again
  • Nivea powder touch antiperspirant

Hair

  • Plantur 39 shampoo – it is not the first time I mention this kind of shampoo with caffeine (read about it here) but I’m going to let it not be re-purchased as I haven’t seen any increasing effect on my hair. But that doesn’t make it a bad shampoo, just to expensive for a non-reachable purpose.
  • Batiste dry shampoo for light & blonde hair– for the classic Batiste dry shampoo you can read the full review here. As you can see, I’ve been trying their different products for a while and I can say that this one is my favorite so far – it has the perks of the Batiste dry shampoos, the fragrance is ok, but the main advantage is the fact that the powder has a nice blonde coloration so your hair will look and feel fuller. Trust me, it’s a deal.

Face

  • Nivea Soothing cleaning mousse – I got along just fine with this cleaning product and if I will fail to have inspiration for something new, I will probably buy this again; You can read the full review here.
  • Apivita natural serum with resveratrol and vitamin E – Considering their price I expected it to be some kind of wonder serum but apart from a nice hydration of the areas where I’ve applied it (forehead, neck, cleavage) I didn’t notice any anti-aging effect. So, bottom line, it will not be a repurchase; for the full review, click here.

Nails&Makeup

  • Yves Rocher -Correction base – Not much to say but another try and fail from Yves Rocher. Somehow these products keep on failing to convince me they are worth the investment as you can find on the market cheaper products that deliver better results.
  • Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous – Here goes my first experience with creme foundations, and it was not a bad one either; you can read the full review here.
  • Maybelline Falsies Volum Express – I’m a big, big fan of Maybelline mascaras, and I’m so please to try their products every time; you can read about this one here.
  • NYX Photo Loving Primer – finally it’s empty and you can read it’s full review here.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

June empties

Hello beauties!

It’s that time again: monthly empties. This month has been a lot about drugstore products that are quite accessible and some of the products on this list are a part of a conscious cleaning process I’ve been doing in my bathroom cabinet. I know I’m spending a lot of money on different beauty products but I try to keep the list of the products that I’m not actually using to a minimum. So, here’s the list

Hair:

  • L’Oreal Elseve Nutri Gloss Serum – this styling serum was a lot talked about when released. As you can see the bottle is not even half empty but it has been lying around in my bathroom for a while unused. The product was too much for me, made it too oily, but for a little extra shine half a drop it was ok but apparently not enough.
  • Kallos Placenta mask – this one was actually recommended to me by my mother for my colored hair. It is a decent drugstore mask, nice texture, low on perfume but I would not get my hopes that high as for the placenta thins, as they only have wheat extract so even if they don’t have the right ingredients dosage the product will not do you any harm. Anyway, Kallos are quite popular in Romania for their cheap products, so if you want to try it , you will not be leaving your children without college funds.
  • Dr. Wolf Plantur 39 for hair over forty – this shampoo it was recommended to me by my dermatologist doctor. It is a caffeine based product meant to stimulate the circulation on the scalp that would lead to at least a decrease in the hair loss. As a shampoo is not bad, especially if you have hair that becomes oily after a short while but I think it’s too early now to talk about the anti-hair loss effects just after the first emptied bottle.

Body:

  • Balea anti cellulite shower gel with caffeine and alga extract – this shower gel I’ve been using at the gym; it comes with a brush cap that is supposed to help you massage the skin affected by cellulite. In reality it was more like a scrub and I haven’t seen any effects against my cellulite.
  • Palmer’s Massage Cream for stretch marks – as these products are quite pricey in Romania for a drugstore line, I expected the best from Palmer’s. Also, if I’m not sure what to expect from a product I always choose the travel sized packages. I was right,  as this massage cream did absolutely nothing for my two new stretch marks recently appeared on my tummy.
  • Farmec body cream with argan – as much as I love Farmec products, and as far as I was hyped about finding a body lotion with argan oil, this product experience was a so an so. Maybe because I love my body lotions to have a thick texture which was not the case and it seems that neither on the moisturizing part it wasn’t that much.

Face:

  • Bioderma Sensibio H2O – this product was so much under bloggers review that I feel unjust in doing another one. It’s good, I always come back to it, no matter what I try and it has become part of my essentials list
  • Nivea Gentle Cleaning Wiped – I’m not a big fan of the cleaning wipes as I generally think they don’t do a very good job on clearing your skin of all the dirt and products, but I do use them and generally use them when going to the gym after working hours. These cleaning wipes I would not recommend because, contrary to the package claims, to my sensitive skin were quite aggressive.
  • Boots Tea Tree Witch Hazel Face Wash – a very good drugstore face wash that most likely will be repurchased (review: here)

Makeup:

  • Too Faced Lash Injection Pinpoint mascara – another product that I’ve found lying around. As much as I love Too Faced products this mascara was lousy and it was probably the reason that I’ve abandoned it so easily. The mascara was too dry, zero volume and a funky wand.If this mascara is still available in the stores, with my whole heart I tell you don’t waste your money on it.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Bioderma Sensibio AR – Anti Redness Cream

bioderma-sensibio-anti-redness

I’m a person that recently discovered that suffers from rosacea. Although it’s in it’s early stages, I’ve discovered quite a few things since starting this battle:

  • it doesn’t matter if you had taken good care of your skin until this age, using only quality products, respecting the beauty rituals clockwise, this condition can still affect you
  • when it does, everything you knew about beauty and makeup is brought to ground zero, and you start to re-learn how to do things
  • it’s a never-ending battle that you must carry with ambition and determination and never give up

Currently I’m following the treatment that my doctor gave me but she also recommended me to use an anti-redness day cream of my choosing. I had some inefficient trails with some other brands (see it here) and based on it’s user review’s from other people with this condition, so I started my experience with Bioderma.

Pro’s:

  • good moisturizing
  • it absorbs nicely and fast
  • pleasant texture
  • fragrance free
  • at some point, it does reduce redness, although I cannot state that this is due solely to this cream

Con’s:

  • redness disappearance is only temporary

For now, I will not rate this product but leave you with all of the above and an overall impression: although the product contains some anti-inflammatory ingredients as a standalone treatment cannot treat the redness which can appear again due to persistence of external factors (like cold, use of caffeine, stress, etc.)

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

June wishlist

June wishlist
Hello beauties!
I hope you are having lots of fun. But if, as me, you are still working hard and your vacation is far away, I still hope your summer is going in a positive direction.
This month for me has been full of events. Now I’m preparing for a baptism, and here in Romania, this kind of event is celebrated the same way as a wedding: party all night long. So, as I’ve been thinking what would I wear in terms of clothes and makeup I obviously had another wishlist that I’m sharing with you:
  • Bobby Brown Beach Body lotion – moisturized and glowing skin; and I’ve said it all.
  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer – I just love this va va voom pink for the summer
  • Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel – for the beach or just going to the pool, you might just do it in style and with glorious eyelids
  • Dolce &Gabbana Makeup Smooth Eyeshadow Quad Amore – blend-able and pigmented colors for a vivid and bubbly makeup.
  • NARS Sheer Glow foundation – perfect for the summer with the light matte effect.
  • Dior Diorblush – for a happy summer it must come only as Happy Cherry
Do share your current wishlist as I’m curious if we have some products in common.
Until then, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

KIKO face masks

image

It is not the first time that I’m reviewing KIKO products. Apart from their nice makeup, they also have great ones for skincare and this is why I’ve decided to talk to you about two of their  facial masks: hydrating and purifying.

I chose these two masks specifically because I always like my face to be hydrated, clean and soft and I’ve figured that I can use these masks on a weekly basis alternating them.

The packaging is really nice colored, the 55 ml pot is made from plastic, very similar with toothpaste, which makes the application very easy.

KIKO Hydrating Mask has a very smooth texture, close to the cold cream with a very delicate smell. I’ve noticed that after using this mask my skin feels very silky and fresh in the same time.

KIKO Purifying Mask seems quite muddy as texture but for oily skin that looks tired and congested it does wonders. Also it has a slight matifying effect.

Overall, these two products do not perform wonders but are good nevertheless and I will acquire them whenever I will have the chance.

Have you tried any of the KIKO’s face masks?

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

LA ROCHE-POSAY CICAPLAST

LP14410_big

Last year I suffered a minor surgical intervention. After getting out of the hospital, I was recommended to buy a cream that accelerates epidermal repair and this is how I’ve discovered Cicaplast.

It’s more of a gel or ointment than a moisturizer and it doesn’t need a large quantity to apply on a larger surface.

I did not expect this cream to magically hide a surgery intervention but the overall result was very pleasing and it has definitely helped the recovery: the area was moisturized, the scar was diminished (it’s smaller, and it’s becoming white). Better: it’s fragrance and paraben free.

I have also read that you can use this product on your lips when they are dry, or on your face if you suffer from dry patches. I’ve only used it on my face but you feel the difference right away but I would not recommend using this gel as a primer

My rating: 9/10 .

Would I repurchase this product again? Yes.

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter and Vanilla

Purely_pampering_shea_butter

I am a big fan of body products and I really wanted to try this shower gel because I generally have a very good opinion about Dove products in terms of quality versus price. Also, when a tag says shea butter and vanilla in the same sentence, you’ve won me for good. And who does not like a little pamper once in a while?

Pro’s:

  • Creamy and thick
  • Definitely a “girly” product
  • Economic package

Con’s:

  • Although it smells amazing at first, the scent becomes annoying after 5 minutes in the shower.
  • Not drying your skin, but not softening it either

While this supermarket product is very much appraised, I could not get over the overwhelming smell. My rating: 6/10 (with a sad heart)

Would I repurchase this product again? No, no, no.

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

March empties

image

Hey, lovely laddies!

Last week, I had an awful cold that kept me in bed quite a long time. Now, I’m back, full of energy for the lovely spring unfolding outside.

Empty products in March:

  • Body Shop Noix de Cocoa Beurre Corporel – I love these moisturizers: they are rich, full of delicious scents, leaving your skin of so happy, smooth, silky and glowing. Besides, what’s not to love about a body butter that has no sulfates, phthalates,  GMOs, or triclosan. The packaging is not so great, as I would have loved to have this product in a bottle with a pump, but given the consistency of the product and how great it is absorbed into the skin, I say it’s a minor one.
  • E.L.F. Mineral Foundation – this was not a favorite product: it did not have coverage, it was kindda cakey looking, the pot was quite small for the price paid for it. I generally used it as setting powder, but the product did not last very long on my face. The good side: it had SPF 15.  At the end, the product was sticking on the walls of the pot and it was annoying for me to use it until the last drop.
  • Essence I Love Extreme Mascara – I’ve bought this mascara as I’ve read numerous good reviews about it on Internet. Remember the saying: don’t believe everything you hear, right? It was one of the worst products ever: the wand had too much product, it clumped my lashes, and until the end of the day it was faking. After a couple of months since it was bought, the product came with a funny smell, so I’ve decided it was the end of it.
  • Farmec nail polish – as you all know by now, I love this brand. For beauty on budget, this is heaven. This nail polish is shade 351, a deep and rich red. It looks very good on nails, is ultra-resistant, and it’s easy to apply& remove.
  • Dove Essential Nourishment Hand Cream – unfortunately I forgot to keep this one product for the monthly photo. But, I can say that this is one of the best drugstore hand creams that I’ve tried. Very discreet scent, leaves skin moisturize and has good price, of course. What more do you want from this kind of product?
  • Salvatore Ferragamo Signiorina EDP – I loved this perfume for the times I wanted to feel very lady-like, with notes of pepper, jasmine, pink peony, rose, musk, patchouli and pannacotta. It was sweet but in the same time, pleasing and not an overwhelming scent. I would definitely buy this again.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
