Three face masks

Hello beauties,

I love face masks and every Sunday I have my pampering hour when I include this kind of product in my beautifying rituals. Because I always want to try new products I rarely buy anything other than those that come for single uses and today I have selected 3:

Montagne Jeunesse Aloe Vera Face Spa – the masks from Montagne Jeunesse have been something constant in my shopping bag whenever I feel like wasting time at DM because they always deliver or at least they have done no harm (sensitive skin is a never-ending subject). The product comes impregnated into a facial tissue (that makes the application so much easier). The fragrance is pleasant and the effect is soothing for the skin.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink-in Moisture Mask – off all three, this one had the best fragrance, nicest texture and the worst effect: my skin started stinging the minute the mask was on my face but calmed after a minute but remained red after using it.

Salthause Luxus Totes Meer Premium-mask Anti-stress – this mask comes in a form of gel. The effect is a little cooling on the skin and afterwards the skin fels soft and plumped. The package is split in two so the mask can be used two times.

How about you, have you tried any of these masks and if so, did you have a nice experience?

Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleaning Mousse

Hello beauties,

Not so long ago I’ve made a choice in diversifying the products that I use for cleaning my face. Somehow, I considered at that time that Clinique will be one of the brands that I start with (you can read about it here) and with their Rinse-off Foaming Mousse. I chose Clinique not because their claims of allergy and dermatologist tested concepts (in most parts they are bogus), but because of my previous positive experience with Clinique products (at least I’m taking the personal experience as a benchmark).

This mousse is a creamy cleanser used for makeup removal that comes in a nice tube that helps you control how much product you are dispensing. Because of it’s thickness, you don’t require a lot of product for application (so the tube will take a lot of months to be emptied, even with a daily usage). It makes a mild foam that cleans thoroughly every makeup trace (I found it also very good for waterproof makeup but it’s better to avoid the eye areas) and the bonus for me was that it has no fragrance so I haven’t noticed any breakouts or increased redness related to this product usage.

Related to the claims that this cleansed produces dryness on some skin patches due to potassium-based ingredients, although I have a combination skin with sensitive dry cheeks, until now I haven’t noticed such an effect on those areas. On the other hand, keeping those reviews in mind, I did however try to alternate using this cleanser with the classic makeup remover milk and micellar water.

Overall, this product it’s a keeper when combined with a great moisturizing routine.

Sunday pampering (part II)

Hello beauties,

December is supposed to be a month eager with Christmas anticipation. As it has been raining and cold for over two weeks now all I can think of is stay in bed, sleep and read. And because today it’s Sunday, a little pampering is in place.

This is not the first post about Apivita masks (see here) or their products but as I like to diversify, I’ve decided to try some more:

Express Beauty with green clay – it’s a deep cleansink mask with green clay. I’ve used it mainly for my T zone and it worked like a charm. I didn’t notice any major advantages of this product compared with other clay masks from other brands but just the fact that my skin didn’t seem so tight after removing it.

Express Beauty with ginko biloba – this is a mask for dark circles and eye-puffiness. First time I’ve applied it together with the clay mask and maybe that was not wise as strange opposite sensations were mixing on my face so I would recommend it for a standalone usage. The texture was gentle and somehow a little cooling but the results were not wowing me but on the other hand, as there were no negative effects I believe this mask wasn’t supposed to.

All in all, for a little treat and spoil these masks are a cute alternative for your usual treatment and as they come in a pack of two, you can always verify the first-hand results. Or just enjoy your me-time and relax.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way;-)

NARS Orgasm Blush

Hello ladies!

Today I’m not going to do a review (as the Internet is full of reviews about NARS and this blush) but I am going to tell you a story about a happy girl – that eventually became the woman that is writing this blog:) .

I’ve been dreaming about this blush for a long long time. On the other hand considering the pricey tag and the fact that in Romania there are no beauty stores that have NARS products it seemed quite obscene to order it online and never made it on the top of my to buy list.

Somehow this year my travelling lead me to the North American continent, the mother of all consumers and all of a sudden my priorities changed. It should be NARS in my makeup bag and nothing else.   I entered in the first Sephora store I could find and felt entering a place of beauty and lust. I stood mesmerized in front of the NARS stand wanting to grab everything, wanting to call my bank to increase my credit card limit, wanting to be part of THE experience. Then, Orgasm came…handy. And after that into the basket and in my makeup bad.

Yes, it’s sexy and obscene and I’ve been loving every moment of this shimmery peachy pink experience with it’s soft texture easily blend-able caressing  the skin for a whole day long. And now I understand what the fuss is all about but it’s a very personal experience. And this is the maximum hint I can give you about this blush as I would recommend every fair lady out there to grab the money and buy one Orgasm.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips – Classic Nude

Hello beauties!

As the nude palettes craziness seems has hit us women hard and seems it won’t go anywhere, today I’m going to share with you some thoughts about this palette from Physicians Formula. This palette is part of their famos Shimmer Strips collection

I’ve been reading a lot of comparisons of this product with the Urban Decay Nakeds but I don’t see the point as this one from PF contains 9 shimmery colors meant for basically three classical smokey eyes look, demonstrated on the package ( natural, playful and dramatic).

  • packaging – the plastic case is covered with a nice black lace layer giving the whole thing a very lady-like appearance
  • nude diversity – if you love nude colors, these are indeed very pretty, in a girly style.
  • the shimmer is quite discreet, nothing gliterry
  • wet&dry application
  • blend easily
  • claims: hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free, gluten free (excuse me?)

  • sponge applicator – is it really necessary after all this brush hype?
  • colors – when used dry you have to use quite a lot for the color to appear vibrant on your eyelid
  • duration – even with primer (a couple of days I’ve used one from Too Faced and other day I’ve used one from E.L.F.) it clumped in the creases of the eyelids after a couple of hours

Overall, I’m glad that this palette is so small and the price in the drugstore was quite low. If I would have ordered it online, considering the taxes and all, I would have been very sorry. I don’t know how these colors react if you have dry skin (probably a better overall result) but it is a nice palette to play with and very good for women that don’t need investing time in makeup.

Nivea Soothing Cleaning Mousse

Hello beauties!

I’ve been using Nivea cleaning mousse for a while as part of my daily cleaning routine and I must say that I’m impressed.

It comes in a foam form, very gentle and easy to apply. Overall product impression, as follows:

  • non drying – although i have a mixed skin, my dry patches sometimes feel extremely dry, but it was not the case using this product
  • non irritating although it’s slightly perfumed
  • does a very good job removing make up and cleaning the skin
  • the dosage is about right – I’ve been using it twice a day for two months now and the bottle is just half empty.

My rating: 7.5/10. I am recommending this product for you to try if you haven’t done it yet as for a gentle cleanser that does it’s job right and the price is a fair one.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Nude Look BB Cream

Hello beauties!

As the BB fever starts to cool down, I am among the first persons to admit that during the summer our skin needs sometimes a lighter makeup.

I recently was lucky enough to receive this product in form of a large sample that has been lasting for quite a while and decided to share my thoughts with you.

  • texture – light and fluid
  • finish – I was very surprised to see that the final result was a nice soft and natural look
  • coverage – for a BB cream it’s quite good in covering the small imperfections even the redness up to a degree
  • SPF 30 – just for this I just love this product as this coverage is perfect for any sunny day

  • sorry, could not find one

My rating:8/10. This BB cream was more of a light foundation but the biggest plus of all is that it gives the impression of a bare beautiful skin, a result that I haven’t seen at many of the available BB Creams.

Ivatherm Anti-Aging eye cream

I wish I couldn’t admit so easily that the early stage of wrinkles that I’m experiencing is scary. But it is and I am.

This is a product that was acquired recently, as you remember (click: here) but as the product threatens to be empty very soon due to intensive use, I’m in a hurry for a short review.

If you don’t know anything about them, Ivatherm is a young Romanian dermacosmetics brand that contain Herculane thermal spring water. They make a name of themselves for developing their products in France specifically targeting sensitive skin.

This eye cream is supposed to reduce the existing crow feet lines and increasing the skin’s luminosity due to a specific ingredient obtained from plant stem cells.

  • light texture
  • very easily absorbed into skin
  • nice smart package: a tube with a pump dispenser that gives you the right product dosage
  • paraben-free and phenoxyethanol-free
  • no wow effect on my fine lines but apparently it has a decent moisturizing effect
  • really good as makeup base

  • not really an anti-age eye cream and no effect whatsoever on the dark circles (although on their defense, they never claim that they have one)
  • during my life, I’ve used eye creams that at a point I was desperately wishing to get over . With this one it has been a month of a twice a day use and the bottle is almost empty
  • considering the rate the product is emptying, it’s quite pricey

My rating: 7/10. Overall, this product will not come to my mind as on top 10 list for eye contour care; I would say that is on top of the list that contains the “nothing special” products. I believe Ivatherm has a lot to learn about consumer and their need but they are in a good place right now and I would like to be surprised by their evolution.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Stay Matte Rimmel Poder

Summer is almost here and if you have oily or mixed skin like me you know what that does to the makeup if the matter isn’t properly taken care of. One of the secret weapons in this game is the use of powder. I like pressed powders more than their loose versions as I find it more fun to work with.

A while ago, I was sharing my thoughts on a mattifying powder from Paese (review: here) that has been my ally for a while. But since this powder was a little bit too heavy to use throughout the day, 7 days a week, I’ve decided I need another pressed powder.

This Rimmel Stay Matte powder claims up to 5 hours of mattiffying power. Many beauty gurus praise this product as a dupe for MAC or as a standalone new cult product. I purchased the color 005 Sandy Beige.

  • smooth texture
  • easily blended
  • good enough for setting
  • natural coverage

  • no extra coverage if you are using it after liquid foundation and no coverage at all if you are using it as a standalone product.
  • only 7 shades and from where I’ve bought this product, not all of them were available

My rating:7.5/10.

Until now I’m impressed by this product as it had been a decent acquisition: quite effective and cheap so I would recommend it for you just to give it a try if you haven’t done it yet.

One of the greatest fake-its: Benefit Benetint

I must say that I have had my doubts against Benetint. I mean, cheek and lip stain? What are we, 15th century? Well, it is a much loved, talked and reviewed product and I decided that a little vintage drama would be nice to try.

The packaging is similar to the ones from nail polishes and somehow impractical. The product’s consistency is watery but very pigmented and needs a quick and vigorous blending as it dries very quickly.

The final color is a gorgeous pink. If it is on your lips or on your cheeks, the intensity can be controlled by you, depending on how much product you apply.

On my cheeks, a little dab looks very natural and it lasts nicely all day long; the plus: it gives discreet blushing and very subtle contouring like a Photoshop effect. On my lips I have to back the Benetint color with an colorless gloss or lipstick .

Benetint did not replace any of my current products but it has a practical advantage of multi-purpose for us busy working gorgeous gals.

My rating: 8/10.

Let me know your Benetint experience..

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
