Corporate favorites – minimal look for a day at the office

image

Hello beauties,

2015 has started quickly. Against all trends, I refuse to make the new year’s objectives list as it is far from me the discipline of following such directions. Priorities change as our lives change with a faster pace than we have ever seen, and what we consider mundane is swifted accordingly.

These being said, my first week started in a high speed. And for a corporate girl like me some mornings only need a quick fix so I’m sharing my products of choice list with you for a 10 minute makeup look with a minimal effort.

After moisturizing my face and applying a primer, I reach either for the CC cream either for a foundation that doesn’t need much of blending – this would be MaxFactor Facefinity All Day Flawless foundation (you can read the full review here). For the eyelids I would use a nude matte shadow in a neutral color like the mono from NYX (Blame It On Midnight). Instead of eyeliner, I would use a bronze or brown pencil (like this chocolate brown from Bourjois) and if I want a more dramatic effect (like for a day to night transition look) I will use a black pencil along the (upper) waterline like the waterproof black kohl from Flormar.

For highlighting I would use the lovely mosaic powder from Melkior (for a full review, click here) but also for a discreet and matte effect I use a white pencil (this one is from Avon, Color Trend collection – which I might recommend for you as it has a fair ratio of price – quality). To add a little colour in the cheeks I always go for NARS Orgasm, my all times favorite blush – I really love the pink golden effect this product has.

The final stroke will come with a touch of mascara – I am currently using this one from Rimmel Scandaleyes (you can read the full review here) but as this is not the best money can buy, any mascara for volume that you have will do and with this I am ready for another day at the office.

What about you, what products do you choose when you are in a hurry? Leave a small comment with your 10 minutes makeup of choice.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

July empties

image

Hello beauties!

The time has come for that post of the month to go through all that empties accumulated in July and see what’s worth buying again or trying some more.

Body

  • Jardin de France Brume de Fraicheur – in the midst of the summer, skin moisturizing and cleanness is a top priority. Using thermal water can definitely help and getting it at a 400 ml dosage seemed like a nice deal when I came across this nice bottle in a drugstore. To me it seemed mostly like tap water under a low pressure and in fact not even half of it it is used and shall never be used again. If you come across this brand choose Avene instead and save your money.
  • Honeymania shower gel from Body Shop (you can read my review here) – although we are two persons in this house, this shower gel was really a treat and I’ve used it accordingly. But I am always eager to try the amazing fragrances from Body Shop and be surprised.

Hair

  • Rainforest Radiance conditioner from Body Shop ( read my review of this product here) – it was a good conditioner but it didn’t wow me but I never expected them to.
  • Avon Nourishing Shampoo with nettle& burdock – I like the products from Avon Naturals Herbal gamma. Somehow, Avon reminds me about how it was like being a teenager: no money but their products made you feel so rich by diversity and accessibility. So out of sheer nostalgia sometimes I do acquire their products which reminds me why on some segments they are leaders of the market here. If you have no special expectations their products will not fail you. This shampoo is the same: does it’s job very neatly, does have a decent fragrance, does not irritate the scalp, does not improve the appearance of a brittle hair but at least the hair is clean and nice.
  • Batiste dry shampoo – (you can see the full review here) – see, it did last longer! If you haven’t tried it, maybe you should give it a go.

Skin

  • Bioderma Sensibio AR Anti-Redness care cream – this is fully part of my morning routine now as this bottle was replaced by a fresh one. In terms of moisturizing a redness prone skin undergoing treatment it is one of the best I’ve tried but you can read my full review here.
  • Ivatherm Una Anti-aging eye contour cream – as I’ve anticipated this cream was vanished before I could properly end the review for it (here). Considering this, I don’t understand why these products are charged so much as for seeing the real effects it probably takes a lot more than a bottle. Shame on you for trying to rip the consumer!

Nails

  • Yves Rocher shiny clear nail polish – I’ve been using this as top coat and actually it’s a decent one. But as the months went by and the red gamma in my nail polish stack diversified this started to become somehow dry and it was harder to apply it. I would not give a special recommendation for this product as I am not fully convinced about their quality – somehow it still feels like Yves Rocher is trying to play in the medium priced league but never got the chance to learn the game of quality yet.
  • Flormar Nail base coat hardener – it’s one of the cheap brands, their products are so and so. This base-coat has not improved the quality of my nails a bit but it has worked fine.

And yes, no makeup this month as I’ve been buying a lot of stuff lately and never got the chance to finish anything. But we’ll see what august brings for us.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Handbag heroes

image

If you are a regular on this blog, it’s no secret that I’m a person that suffers from a tight schedule everyday. If not, be warned that I might refer to this constantly. This is the main reason that my posts have been quite chaotic lately and what inspired me in the first place to share this to you, my dears. Handbag-wise, I’m a walking disaster as I always feel the need to pack everything as to prevent an unknown cataclysm that would allegedly keep me from fixing my makeup . If someone told you that reaching your 30’s will solve most of your college problems, forget that.

Let’s start with non-beauty basics first. I always (no matter of the bag size) carry with me a a hairbrush (as you can see, I have one from Sephora bought ages ago, in form of a compact case that also has mirror) , a dental floss (currently dragging around is one bought from DM, not much to say than it does what’s supposed to do) and cleaning tissues for glasses (whatever comes handy at the supermarket). Gum, hairbands or clips and different emergency pills come without saying.

The leader hero of the bag is the hand cream – currently using the Nivea HandCream Anti Age Q10, travel size. It’s a decent hand cream, smells quite nicely and makes me feel pampered.  For other kind of toiletries I always have a handful of samples (that you generally receive in magazines or in beauty stores and stay forgotten in the bathroom) with me of diverse products that come handy when I did not expect  (perfume, hand cream, liquid foundation, anti-mosquito lotion). Don’t get me wrong, I always carry a bottle of perfume with me, like this nice lily and gardenia spray perfume from Avon that currently is with me all the time, but I like variety and just to be sure I have enough, I’ve recently added the Lush solid perfume (review: here).

Makeup review I keep minimal, as either I’m wearing full makeup throughout the day or I’m not wearing anything. So the only real makeup product that I could die without is lipstick. And I cannot get enough of it as I carry around at least three. And as you can see, currently I’m over that limit: a nude lip gloss from Soap & Glory, chubby sticks from Astor and Bourjois, a classic pink lipstick from ELF and a nice orange Colortrend from Avon. In case my makeup starts running around from excessive oil, I have the Tea Trea Blotting Tissues from Body shop that help me solve that problem.

What do you know, there aren’t so many products as I thought, all the essentials are there, just in case ;).

What about you? What treasures does your handbag hold?

Until  next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

March favorite products

This month I’ve been doing a lot of shopping. Maybe because it’s spring, one of my favorite seasons. Maybe because it’s sunny&warm outside, which gives me an excellent mood. Maybe because I’m in love, but I’ve been this love-sick for three years now.

Anyhow,  I’ve been feeling generous with reviews lately so you might go easy on me for being over enthusiastic. Also, you might notice that I’ve been stuck to a routine as of lately…

1. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. This bronzer was a present and because at that time I did not know how to work with bronzers, it was forgotten in a drawer. But its chocolate scent somehow came to surface and I started wearing it daily. With no exception.  And with the right buffing brush, it will blend perfectly into your skin.

2. Avon Color Trend – shade Flirt. This is a product acquired last autumn, and although, I’m not quite a big fan of Avon products, it was a visionary action from my side as it is a very nice orange lipstick, very wearable, even for stiff office jobs. Not matte but not very shimmery either, slightly scented, the texture is not that creamy, so be aware if you have dry lips. As for longevity, it was all right for four hours, after that it needed a refresh.

3. Makeup Forever HD Powder. I know, right? But I can’t get enough of it.

4. Apidermin face cream. Just because I have to put it away for a while, until cold comes again. It was good for my face during the cold days but I have also used it on my hands and elbows and it works perfectly. I don’t know if it’s such a good product in general or for everybody, but for me, in times of wind and snow it is perfect.

What are your favorite products this month?

Until then, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
