Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips – Classic Nude

pf

Hello beauties!

As the nude palettes craziness seems has hit us women hard and seems it won’t go anywhere, today I’m going to share with you some thoughts about this palette from Physicians Formula. This palette is part of their famos Shimmer Strips collection

I’ve been reading a lot of comparisons of this product with the Urban Decay Nakeds but I don’t see the point as this one from PF contains 9 shimmery colors meant for basically three classical smokey eyes look, demonstrated on the package ( natural, playful and dramatic).

Pro’s:

  • packaging – the plastic case is covered with a nice black lace layer giving the whole thing a very lady-like appearance
  • nude diversity – if you love nude colors, these are indeed very pretty, in a girly style.
  • the shimmer is quite discreet, nothing gliterry
  • wet&dry application
  • blend easily
  • claims: hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free, gluten free (excuse me?)

Con’s:

  • sponge applicator – is it really necessary after all this brush hype?
  • colors – when used dry you have to use quite a lot for the color to appear vibrant on your eyelid
  • duration – even with primer (a couple of days I’ve used one from Too Faced and other day I’ve used one from E.L.F.) it clumped in the creases of the eyelids after a couple of hours

Overall, I’m glad that this palette is so small and the price in the drugstore was quite low. If I would have ordered it online, considering the taxes and all, I would have been very sorry. I don’t know how these colors react if you have dry skin (probably a better overall result) but it is a nice palette to play with and very good for women that don’t need investing time in makeup.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Stay Matte Rimmel Poder

rimmel-stay-matte-pressed-powder

Summer is almost here and if you have oily or mixed skin like me you know what that does to the makeup if the matter isn’t properly taken care of. One of the secret weapons in this game is the use of powder. I like pressed powders more than their loose versions as I find it more fun to work with.

A while ago, I was sharing my thoughts on a mattifying powder from Paese (review: here) that has been my ally for a while. But since this powder was a little bit too heavy to use throughout the day, 7 days a week, I’ve decided I need another pressed powder.

This Rimmel Stay Matte powder claims up to 5 hours of mattiffying power. Many beauty gurus praise this product as a dupe for MAC or as a standalone new cult product. I purchased the color 005 Sandy Beige.

Pro’s:

  • smooth texture
  • easily blended
  • good enough for setting
  • natural coverage

Con’s:

  • no extra coverage if you are using it after liquid foundation and no coverage at all if you are using it as a standalone product.
  • only 7 shades and from where I’ve bought this product, not all of them were available

My rating:7.5/10.

Until now I’m impressed by this product as it had been a decent acquisition: quite effective and cheap so I would recommend it for you just to give it a try if you haven’t done it yet.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Revlon Colorstay Concealer

2416582

Today I’m reviewing for you a liquid concealer from Revlon’s Colorstay line.  Some say it’s a good and cheaper alternative for MAC. Some cannot live without it. I’m just concerned that lately too much passion invested in my everyday activities might lead to lack of quality sleep  and can lead to dark circles. Yes, it’s been a busy spring and I cannot make compromises in looking everyday but fresh and luminous, so thank you Cosmetic Industry! 🙂

My shade: 02 (light).

Pro’s:

  • the package is a lip-gloss like container with sponge applicator, compact enough for your every day purse.
  • easy to blend
  • medium to low coverage
  • matte finish
  • I didn’t notice any creases and doesn’t look cakey
  • lasts the whole day on your face

Con’s:

  • Color matching – I was disappointed by the shade: somehow I thought it was slightly darker than it really is
  • a slightly medicinal smell
  • a tendency to dry the skin (which is bad bad bad for the under-eye face area)

Overall, it is not a bad concealer, although I have seen better. My rating: 7.5/10.

Would I buy it again? Most likely .

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

April empties

image

Hello, beauties!

April has been a busy month for me with a lot of products that I’m gonna say good bye to. Some of them I’m going to repurchase some of them were a total waste of my money. So out with the old:

Face &Body

Yves Rocher Beaute des Mains. Hand care is very important to me, although hands are most of the times left out from beauty routines (in terms of moisturizing or applying sun screen). After I wash my hands, every time, with no exception, I will use a hand cream. This is why I have a hand cream everywhere: in my purse, in my bathroom, in every other drawer, in the car, in my boyfriend’s car:) and so on. This hand cream from Yves Rocher has helped me through the office winter and the best thing I can say about it, oh, that perfume. Well, that’s an irritant, I know. You know what else? Alcohol and sodium hydroxide. Overall it was an ok hand cream, but not very gentle with the skin.

After this month I’m going to skip the Effaclar Micellar Water (review). it has been a very nice thermal water for my oily sensitive skin, I’ve almost forgot I have problems, but out of all the micellar waters that I’ve tried, I believe this one from La Roche Posay does the weakest job in the cleaning department. This is why I’ve always used it with Nivea  Eye make-up remover (review).

Floritene Serum Face Lift – I’ve found this product recently in my search for effective anti-age products as it contains hyaluronic acid and AHA. All I can say is that I saw the results immediately,  but, although I did not feel any side effect, I’ve noticed that this serum contained a lot of irritating agents.

As long as we are talking about Nivea, it’s their antiperspirant that is emptied this month, the Invisible for Black&White. Not much to say, other than it delivers. Also I’m a big fan of their lip butters – the last one being Pure&Natural Olive&Lemon Lip Care. Funky fresh smell, extra green color but it helped my lips stay soft and moisturized on a daily basis.

Makeup

Another product from Yves Rocher that I’m going to renounce to is Peau Parfaite BB Cream. All I can say about it is good riddance, you’ve wasted my money and my skin.It is not actually empty but I could not use it no more. First, it was the smell – like old’s people medicine cabinet. Then, the coverage, close to non-existent which on my skin is a VIP ticket to disaster and the SPF (what? who? I don’t understand). Overall I felt with a paint application on my face, but the paint wasn’t blended that well.

E.L.F. Mineral Infused Face Primer  – I was sad when this ran out, because I can say this is the most re-purchased product from E.L.F. because I use primers as part of my everyday makeup due to my oily sensitive skin. It has been a fiend in need, decent product, does not perform miracles but I think it stands the endurance test for a lot of events. It is not the same thing I can say about E.L.F. Eyelid Primer that generally speaking hasn’t help me much, eye shadows creasing and caking at their own free will.

Given the fact that I use lipstick every day, if I would have to choose my top 3 lip glosses this Sexy Motherpucker Lip Plumping Gloss from Soap &Glory would be in it as one of my va va voom secrets. The gloss here is What a Melon, it was a soft glittery pink with a nice tingling sensation on my lips and a non-sticky formula (as non-sticky it can be for a lip gloss). And yes, your lips get bigger; and if not, they are prettier.

I’ve bought this NYX HD Photogenic Concealer  because it was recommended to me by people that sell this product here as a primer. It is not a primer, it’s a concealer, helloo! I’ve bought it in green for my redness problem, but nevertheless it did’t cover very well. I found out it didn’t blend very well either and it was quite drying.

Maybelline One by One Volume Express – this mascara I really, really loved (review). I am sorry to be parted and I truly hope that until I will buy this product again, they will keep it in their list.

Essence Bronzing Star I’ve had it for a while now but now we must part, as I dropped it on the floor and it is in an irrecoverable mess. It had a nice color and pigmentation, it was very easily blended, doesn’t have any shimmer but it didn’t last that long on your face.

That’s all for April empties.

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Bourjois blush

Bourjois blush

Hello ladies! I hope that those of you celebrating Easter have a wonderful weekend among your loved ones. For those who don’t, just have fun anyway:-)

Today I’ve decided that I’m being lazy and you know that laziness brings a special health shimmer on your face. Talk about shimmer: Bourjois is one of the brands that I have a special affection for. One day I’ve decided to be bold: I had to buy a blush. So this was the moment when shade 37 came into my life. Rose Pompon.

Rose Pompon is a soft shimmery peachy rose shade which I figured will be perfect for day wear. Yes, I know it’s not that bold as I’ve imagined but my inner self was quite joyous with this blush. Future was to prove me the opposite.

Pro’s:
– very nice package, comes also with a cute little brush
– very nice color
– low pigmentation ( for me it’s a plus as I wanted a subtle blush)

Con’s:
– funky fragrance (it smells like old people aftershave)
– the product is developing a protective coat in time and at a point you have to scrape it.

My rating: 6/10. Would I buy it again? No.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

NYX The Caribbean Collection

image

Hello ladies! I hope your spring has been so far of beautiful surprises.
Mine surely is as I have recently found out my childhood friend is going to marry next year in June and I’m so happy for her.

Talk about surprises – this NYX palette was bought in a sale rush ( I know, it’s not smart shopping, but be honest at least and say you like those too) not knowing what to expect. I understand now that the color combination is vast in the Caribbean Collection but the one I chose it is called Dream of Aruba. This is an incredible collection of neutral colors and this palette has becomed part of my daily makeup routine because it is so easy to work with. It’s a no-brainer!

The pallete contains a copper, a rusty red, a gold, a bronze and a yellowish taupe shadow. All have a very nice shimmer and they are perfect for whatever event you are using them ( work, a night out, etc).

Pro’s:
– highly pigmented
– soft texture
– long lasting
– hypoallergenic
– package is perfect for travel

Con’s:
– you’d better use them with a primer
– sponge applicator is useless

Overall, this is a product that I would recommend having it around in your makeup drawer.

My rating: 8/10.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Toleriane Teint

LP14347_large

This is a very personal post for me. As a person diagnosed with an untreatable condition, rosacea, every makeup choice is for me a challenge: to be skin friendly, to have enough coverage and to be workable enough not losing the natural look. Also mastering foundations is one of those first steps in any complete makeup routine.

La Roche Posay is usually one of the brands that have very good products for skin problems, including this condition. Toleriane Teint Ultra Workable Fluid Corrective Foundation was recommended to me as a good foundation so I said let’s give it a try.

I am aware that this product has been widely reviewed until now but I wanted to see how this product works on long term.

Pro’s:
– medium to full coverage with high SPF (25)
– lasts flawlessly all day long on your face
– designed for people with sensitive and allergenic skin
– you only need one little drop for your whole face for full coverage
-semi matte

Con’s:
– be careful around those fine lines because it can make them look worse
– there aren’t a lot of tones to chose from.
– you need to apply it with a sponge for a more natural look

I would not say I’m displeased with this product but I think that in this price range there are other medium to full coverage foundations that can perfom better on a sensitive skin. Also, during breakouts, I would not advise you to use this product as it dries your skin a little bit too much for my taste.

My rating: 7/10

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

I’ve recently discovered The Balm products and I wanted to share this with you because my first impression about them was very good.

I was first attracted by the package – a cardboard palette with a leopard print design on the cover, with mirror inside, for every shade. Very va va voom, as they would say.

I had the option of buying the whole Shady Lady palette but I’ve decided against as I am more of an individual color user: Just this once it’s a shimmery pink-mauve and All about alex it’s a dark khaki. Both are fast climbing into my favorite eyeshadows list.

These eye shadows are super: very pigmented, easy application without any fallout and very good blending.

The colours are quite soft so you need to build up for a more permanent look and deeper shade.

Both shadows resisted flawlessly without any crease 9 hours. But with primer.

My rating: 8.5/10

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
