April empties

Hello beauties,

Against my good habits this post comes later as the weekend with 1st of May put me in the laziest mood ever. Generally speaking, your habits tell a lot about your person and under normal circumstances I would have pushed for an active schedule but lately I’m more on letting life happen and me enjoying thins as they appear. I hope your weekend was fulfilling as well.

  • Eucerin Aquaporin Active body lotion – because I use body lotions almost on a daily basis I finish them before I get to review them. Generally I like Eucerin products because of their sensitive skin friendly approach and at a point I was looking for a body lotion that could help my skin survive the winter. This lotion was mildly moisturizing (so for the dry skin areas had little effect) and a little too watery for my taste but with the all dermatological benefits (without alcohol or fragrance that might cause an irritation). I would not point this product as something I would recommend for winter time but I’m prepared to give Eucerin another try.
  • Avene cold cream – my hands are always in need of cream and during colder periods the need becomes an urge. This product was recommended by my pharmacist. I haven’t used it no my face but exclusively on my hands. After application the cream didn’t get absorbed quickly and my skin was feeling quite sticky and full of plastic smell. As for hydration, I wasn’t impressed as I didn’t feel the product is better than any other (although the price is double).

  • Nivea 3 in 1 Micelar Cleaning Water – this is my second or third bottle of micelar water from Nivea(I have also mentioned this product here) and my opinion remains as a recommendable product.
  • Nivea Cleansing Milk – this product is for me in the same category as cotton balls – something that’s primarily so useful and so good that needs no other introduction. Whenever I’m not feeling the excitement of trying something new I always chose Nivea Cleansing Milk as it does what’s supposed to do. Period.
  • Bioderma Hidrabio Riche – first I was excited about this cream but my excitement gradually decreased as the effects were less than visible so for people with my type of skin I would not favor this product (read full review here).

  • MaxFactor CC cream – I’m so sad that this CC cream is emptied because I got along so well with it and will probably be a repurchase (read the full review here)
  • E.L.F. Essentials Eyelid Primer – this primer was never a purchase for me but always came as a bonus whenever I placed an order on the E.L.F. site ( I have mentioned this primer also here). Unfortunately this product has done nothing for me except for a major crease and oily lids.
  • E.L.F.Face Setting Spray – this is product that I haven’t reviewed but on the other hand I haven’t bought until now any other similar product that I can compare this one to. When working with multiple layers of foundation and setting powder a real help in making the final result looking less cakey is the setting spray and this one really helps a lot considering that I’m a fan of multi-layering. I’m not sure what to say about making the products stay longer on your face because I didn’t notice any real difference. Anyhow, I’ve already purchased a second bottle but I’m opened to try different brands.

As you can see, April was a lot about care routine and natural look and I would love to read some comments about how was your April.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

MaxFactor Facefinity Primer

Hello beauties,

During winter my sensitive face becomes impossible to handle: redness and dryness on my cheeks and the usual oily T zone plus the extreme oily eye lids. So it’s a circus with a constant fierce battle against forces of nature (pam-pam!). One of the key ingredients in this process is a good primer, and you know that I’m constantly trying new products in search for the perfect one but usually I end up using two kinds of primers (depending on the area that I apply) or just one targeting a specific zone. Recently, MaxFactor Facefinity Primer became available in Romanian stores and I (being a MaxFactor fan) decided to try it as it is basically MaxFactor 3 in 1 Facefinity Flawless Foundation but without the foundation and everybody is swearing by it.

  • packaging – the product comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser, similar in appearance and size to the ones used for foundation
  • sun protection – you will benefit from the product’s SPF 20
  • texture – the product it feels silicone free but it does contain silicone and is slightly moisturizing
  • price – it’s a drugstore product, so you’ll probably save at least half the money you would have spent on POREessional or any other expensive primer for that matter

  • does not perform wonders in terms of blurring the pores
  • it does prolong the wear of the foundation but I cannot count on it for an all-day-and-night marathon
  • does not interact well with some foundations – for instance if I’m using MUFE or La Roche Posay the oily skin will have different bulky sections that will not look good as an overall

As you might have guessed, I’m not impressed by this product but it may be a my skin is in constant battle against itself and a performing primer is a must; but it might not be such a hard case for normal skin types that will probably get along very easy with this product.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

MaxFactor Pan Stick

maxfactorHello beauties,

I’m so excited that February is here. Because I’m i a shallow mood: I’m in mood for shopping, drinking cappuccino and sleeping until late. And of course, doing nothing. Which is not the case. Anyhow, a short holiday I will have and because packing is always a problem, I always take into consideration all in one or practical products (I promise to make a post about how to pack a beauty bag for the holiday). One of the products that I’m going to take with me is the MaxFactor Pan Stick, a foundation that has been recently added among my drugstore favorites. Originally created as a stage makeup product, recently became available in Romanian stores also.

  • This is a rich creamy foundation with thick consistency for normal or dry skin. Thus the final effect is somehow dewy with medium coverage. If you have oily skin this product might be too much for you.
  • Versatility – apart from using it as a foundation, it can also be used as a standalone concealer, but if you buy a couple more shades, you can create your contouring with it;
  • Very easy to apply and blend – no matter the method you choose (brush, fingers, etc.), the product is blended super-quick and with no great effort or special buffing skills
  • the package makes the product very easy to carry around in your purse
  • no irritation, breakouts or other side-effects were noticed

  • after 5 or 6 hours (even with an average primer) it needs some re-touch
  • no ingredients on the package (many MaxFactor products have this disadvantage)

Overall, I’m fairly pleased with this foundation and I would recommend it further. If you have been also using MaxFactor Pan Stick please leave a short comment with your opinion below.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Corporate favorites – minimal look for a day at the office

Hello beauties,

2015 has started quickly. Against all trends, I refuse to make the new year’s objectives list as it is far from me the discipline of following such directions. Priorities change as our lives change with a faster pace than we have ever seen, and what we consider mundane is swifted accordingly.

These being said, my first week started in a high speed. And for a corporate girl like me some mornings only need a quick fix so I’m sharing my products of choice list with you for a 10 minute makeup look with a minimal effort.

After moisturizing my face and applying a primer, I reach either for the CC cream either for a foundation that doesn’t need much of blending – this would be MaxFactor Facefinity All Day Flawless foundation (you can read the full review here). For the eyelids I would use a nude matte shadow in a neutral color like the mono from NYX (Blame It On Midnight). Instead of eyeliner, I would use a bronze or brown pencil (like this chocolate brown from Bourjois) and if I want a more dramatic effect (like for a day to night transition look) I will use a black pencil along the (upper) waterline like the waterproof black kohl from Flormar.

For highlighting I would use the lovely mosaic powder from Melkior (for a full review, click here) but also for a discreet and matte effect I use a white pencil (this one is from Avon, Color Trend collection – which I might recommend for you as it has a fair ratio of price – quality). To add a little colour in the cheeks I always go for NARS Orgasm, my all times favorite blush – I really love the pink golden effect this product has.

The final stroke will come with a touch of mascara – I am currently using this one from Rimmel Scandaleyes (you can read the full review here) but as this is not the best money can buy, any mascara for volume that you have will do and with this I am ready for another day at the office.

What about you, what products do you choose when you are in a hurry? Leave a small comment with your 10 minutes makeup of choice.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

December empties and New Year’s Eve thoughts

Hello beauties,

It has been a long year and for me especially challenging. When I started this blog I just needed another project to invest my energy into and because beauty takes a lot of my energy, time and money, I just pinpointed to a beauty blog. But also my everyday life got complicated throughout the year and at times I found myself cringing in need for an extra hour so one of the important lessons I’ve started to learn through this blog was planning and time management. Also, another thing it came at my attention through this project was my natural tendency to do too much, too quickly, achieving fast results, a point taken on my 2015 objective list of “to improve”. Overall, it has been a year when I’ve learned a lot and I’m sharing a part of my lessons here, with all of you.

Now, that the introductions are done, let’s go through the December empties list and see if we have some new discoveries or not, what has failed or what has been a repurchase.

  • Bioderma Sensibio Anti-Redness – this face cream currently it’s on the top of my favorite face cream and I’ve been buying it throughout this year. You can read details about it here (full review) and here.
  • Soap&Glory Make Yourself Youthful Rejuvenating Face Serum – I am so sorry that this product is empty so quickly; it was used night and day with abundance, I have liked the results and I will definitely repurchase it when the occasion arises; you can read the full review here.
  • Cosmetic Plant Tonic Lotion with sea-buckthorn oil and olive oil – this tonic lotion was purchased with the thought of a gentle care for my sensitive skin due to numerous positive reviews from Romanian bloggers. Well, it wasn’t so gentle for my skin as expected and overall it had to much alcohol in composition that it had a drying effect so at one point I stopped using it and now I just want to throw it away. Bottom line, it will not be a repurchase for me and my advice for you is: don’t believe everything you read, be smart and choose wisely informed.

  • Farmec Quick Dry nail spray –  this is a repurchase, you can read about it also here.
  • CARE Nail polish remover – this is a low cost own brand from Mega Image  superstores chain. Nothing special about it, but efficient.

  • Nivea cream – this is the classic Nivea cream and because it’s a classic- everybody must have used it at least once in our lifetime. Thus I did not consider it was the place for a review. I’ve used it every day for hand cream, instead of body cream or even face cream (when desperate times call for desperate measures) and it’s a winner. It is always by my side on and off and if you don’t have the same approach I recommend you to reconsider it.
  • Apidermin cream – Baby, it’s cold outside, and my skin doesn’t want to suffer. This thick cream with honey is very good for moisturizing (although it’s not for all types of skin) and always a good alternative for your usual face and body cream; you can also read about it here.

  • Batiste dry shampoo – this is the Floral&Flirty Blush dry-shampoo from Batiste. It was a little bit too floral scented for my taste but nevertheless and I’ve noticed that it was a little drying if used for the second day hair, but overall it has achieved it’s purpose like any other Batiste dry shampoo. For the classic Batiste dry shampoo, you can read the full review here. Nevertheless, I will not buy again this version of Batiste due to the fragrance, but this scent may appeal to you as a pleasant one.
  • Wella Professionals Brilliance Treatment – it’s the third or forth time I’m emptying this Wella treatment, and as you have noticed, this is the kind of product that makes your money’s worth; you can read the full review here.

  • MaxFactor Miracle Touch – this creamy foundation I absolutely loved it and I’ve tried to buy it again but I haven’t been able to see it in stock at Sephora. Nevertheless I recommend it and I would buy it again without any second thought; you can read the full review here.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

MaxFactor Miracle Touch

Hello beauties!

Since I’ve been back from my August holiday the first thing I did was a shopping session in search for a foundation one tone darker that my usual one. So this is how I found MaxFactor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation (in Blushing Beige 55 shade). And how ironic is that my previous foundation was also from MaxFactor (you can see it here). Apparently I’ve become hooked on their products. The main difference with this Miracle Touch is that is closer to a creamy foundation and it comes in a pot with an application sponge (which is not bad, by the way, if you are in a hurry and don’t want to mess your hands and there’s no brush handy).

  • texture: in between cream and liquid foundation
  • dewy &silky finish
  • medium coverage
  • buildable
  • quite resistant – no cracks, no melting down, it can resist successfully during an 8 hours working day
  • no oxidation signs noticed or any breakouts caused by the product

  • I expected a lot more product in such a large pot; apparently 11,5g is not that much
  • very low color diversity at the stand
  • no SPF
  • the package does not have the ingredients written on it

Overall, I’m impressed by this foundation and the quality that MaxFactor has started to deliver in it’s products. And since it’s Autumn it would be a nice alternative for your daily foundation.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Max Factor FaceFinity All Day Flawless

Somehow, lately all I’m talking about are face foundations in my perpetual search for a product that can last all day in the office harsh environment, it’s friendly to your skin and has just the right coverage for a natural look.

As I had a very happy experience with MaxFactor and their CC Cream (review: here), I decided to try one of their most appraised foundations: FaceFinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation and also went for the same shade (Natural 50). Although this product is not a novelty on the market, it had some characteristics that appealed to me: a promise of a right mix between a primer, a concealer and foundation and a decent SPF 20.

  • natural finish
  • no matter how much product you’l apply, it will not look heavy nor cakey
  • good medium coverage
  • lasts better on my face that other drugstore foundations (I always try all foundations with primers as base and setting powders)
  • Natural shade has been a match for my skin color
  • not so much of a fragrance

  • the product is not that easy to blend (I’ve noticed that I spend almost double the time with this foundation compared to others)
  • the result is not quite matte, so if you have oily skin maybe try some powder after putting the foundation.
  • the package: once the seal is removed, the lid never closes properly.

My rating: 8.5/10. Would I re-purchase this product again? Yes but I would love for MaxFactor to improve this product.

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

CC cream represents Colour Control, Complexion Corrector and Colour Correction

CC Cream

It is one of the new mantras in the beauty world: CC creams. After being very disappointed by BB creams, I decided to move up in the alphabet and try the Max Factor CC Cream as part of the current hype going around now.

They say:

  • Lightweight formula gives natural coverage and a flawless finish.
  • This intense multi-tasker corrects colour imperfections.
  • The formula, with glycerine, hydrates skin leaving it feeling moisturised.
  • Combined skincare ingredients work together to brighten complexion and give smoother-looking skin.

I say:

I just wanted something super-light for my weekends that minimizes the skin imperfections and that I cannot call it makeup.

  • I acquired the medium shade: Neutral. It blended quite nicely and the color was pretty natural
  • Nice coverage but if you have redness or blemishes it will not cover completely
  • Simple and nice packaging

  • I don’t like the fact that this CC cream has a low SPF (10! even my facecream does better than that)
  • After 4 hours my oily skin was shinny.

My rating: 7.5/10.

Would I buy this product again? Although it’s not a bad product, I didn’t fully relate to the CC cream concept, so, it’s a maybe depending on the long term results.

I would not wear the CC cream as a base for makeup, instead of a primer but I see it’s utility for other moments: going to the gym or a cloudy relaxed weekend day when you do not wear makeup.

What’s your favorite CC cream?

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

What’s on your face this weekend?

This weekend is nothing special but just a plain, warm and sunny spring weekend. No special reason to celebrate something but that doesn’t stop us from being sexy and specials.

Generally on Saturday mornings I go to yoga classes. I find yoga very relaxing and helps me put my mind at ease. So after the yoga class my makeup is very light: little foundation or a BB cream, a little eyepencil here and there, a stroke of mascara and ready, steady, here we go for some coffee or a brunch with my friends.

I have many eye pencils, all colours and shades as I have a fascination for this genious beauty tools that help you with a quick make up in no time at all. Lately, for the weekend light makeup I’ve been stuck on two pencils mostly: Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil and Maybelline Master Smoky.

Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil
it’s a 2 in 1 gel shadow and liner. I have it in shade 40, which is a very nice golden shade that is very suited for day wear and also, if you have oily skin like I do and use a primer, this product can last a decent 8 hours wear.

I fell in love with Master Smokey as soon as I lay my hands on it. I mean, this id a work of a genius: a double cap shadow pencil with smudge. My first choice was a colour called Smoky Chocolate, which is a very nice warm brown, but I have also seen other interesting shades in this gama. It builds up very nicely and doesn’t crease for a long time.

When night falls, you know it’s party time. So my makeup will change accordingly.

This night I’m going to use Toleriane Teint foundation. As I have mentioned before, currently I’m having some problems with my skin as my rosacea is having a breakout moment and this foundation is a fluid corrective one specially designed for people with sensitive skin. It has a medium to full coverage,  SPF 25 but it dries very quickly so you have to work with small quantities for a good blend in. My help on this matter is my beloved Real Techniques buffing brush, a work of wonder.

Makeup Forever HD Powder will be used on top of that, as I love this product so much ( but I will have a separate review for it).

For my eyes I have decided to use the Sleek Makep Acid pallete. With Sleek Makeup is always a love-hate relationship as their products are so hyped and look nice but for the price I’m paying here in Romania their quality does not wow me. For instance, this mineral eyeshadows are quite chalky and you need to work quite long on building them up for a longer wear. But the colours are realy nice, funky and fun to wear.

For the finishing touches, a little bit of perfume; one of my favorites is Givenchy Amarige -a very sexy and sweet fragnance.

So, what are you going to wear on your face this weekend?

Until then, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
