Maybelline Lash Sensational

Hello beauties,

As summer is approaching, my schedule becomes busier and busier and my makeup morning routine is reduced gradually to a minimum. One product I cannot give up is the mascara and whenever I’m clueless about what to try next I always choose Maybelline due to the fact that most of their mascaras are just wonderful. So, I’ve decided to try their new Lash Sensational, they say a lash multiplying mascara.

– it does not flake or smudge
– it does add a little volume and a curl twist to your lashes ( to point out something I’ve seen a lot lately, if you expect wonders use fake lashes instead of a mascara)
– it lasts a long while (for me a full day at the office is a landmark)

– it does come off harder than any other non-waterproof mascara I’ve encountered

I’ve been using this mascara daily and it has not let me down. Overall, I like this product and I would recommend it further. If nothing new to try on the market comes, I will probably repurchase it.

Maybelline Color Tattoo

Hello beauties,

I may be the last of the bunch to talk about Maybelline Color Tattoo but recently it has been my favorite choice for eyeshadows.

When the hype started I went to the local drugstore and reached for one jar of Color Tattoo, Taupe shade – just because I was feeling lazy and taupe is something that goes pretty much with everything else.

At first, I’ve tried it as a single color and it was a mistake because on my fair skin I did not like the result (a little bit too dark for a business look). But recently I started to combine it with different powder eyeshadows and it has won me over and now I can say that I can integrate this product in a makeup look more natural and office appropriate (yes, for those of us living under corporate glass, it is an important aspect).

– the color is a nice matte taupe
– texture: creamy
– it is a versatile product: it can be used as a single eyeshadow, as shadowbase ( yes, it’s consistency is close to MAC Paint Pot, although a little drier ), eyeliner (with a small angled brush) or for the brows (an excellent dupe after Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow)

– because it comes in a jar, it will dry more quickly

Overall, I like this creamy eyeshadow, I would recommend this product as being very good.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

October empties

Hello beauties,

So, another month has passed and the time has come to see the empties of that month with good and the bad and a lot of products apparently, most of them previously reviewed. Let’s get started:

  • Elmiplant Senses Touch shower gel – this shower gel got a lot of attention at launch this summer but I’m not sure it deserved it as I’ve been using this for a couple of months and didn’t get the feeling it was doing more than any other shower gel. So no great deal about it, I didn’t feel it deserved a separate post; average drugstore product, but you can try it in lack of inspiration.
  • Herbamedicus hand creme – this was reviewed here; bottom line: it was nice to try but I will never buy this hand cream anyway
  • Vaseline body lotion – I’ve been having this body lotion during my holiday and using it as hand cream on a general basis. Although the product is mostly a sample that was meant for maximum two uses, I’ve managed to stretch it for almost two months and I declare it to be an interesting product, interesting enough to buy it again
  • Nivea powder touch antiperspirant

  • Plantur 39 shampoo – it is not the first time I mention this kind of shampoo with caffeine (read about it here) but I’m going to let it not be re-purchased as I haven’t seen any increasing effect on my hair. But that doesn’t make it a bad shampoo, just to expensive for a non-reachable purpose.
  • Batiste dry shampoo for light & blonde hair– for the classic Batiste dry shampoo you can read the full review here. As you can see, I’ve been trying their different products for a while and I can say that this one is my favorite so far – it has the perks of the Batiste dry shampoos, the fragrance is ok, but the main advantage is the fact that the powder has a nice blonde coloration so your hair will look and feel fuller. Trust me, it’s a deal.

  • Nivea Soothing cleaning mousse – I got along just fine with this cleaning product and if I will fail to have inspiration for something new, I will probably buy this again; You can read the full review here.
  • Apivita natural serum with resveratrol and vitamin E – Considering their price I expected it to be some kind of wonder serum but apart from a nice hydration of the areas where I’ve applied it (forehead, neck, cleavage) I didn’t notice any anti-aging effect. So, bottom line, it will not be a repurchase; for the full review, click here.

  • Yves Rocher -Correction base – Not much to say but another try and fail from Yves Rocher. Somehow these products keep on failing to convince me they are worth the investment as you can find on the market cheaper products that deliver better results.
  • Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous – Here goes my first experience with creme foundations, and it was not a bad one either; you can read the full review here.
  • Maybelline Falsies Volum Express – I’m a big, big fan of Maybelline mascaras, and I’m so please to try their products every time; you can read about this one here.
  • NYX Photo Loving Primer – finally it’s empty and you can read it’s full review here.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Maybelline – Falsies Volum’ Express

When you hear “mascara” and “falsies” in the same sentence you will definitely think about those false eyelashes that you’ve been dreaming of in the last week. If not, you’ll certainly swear it’s the ultimate mascara that does it all: volume, curl, thicken, moisturize.

I’ve been using this mascara for about a month, on and off, and no, it doesn’t do it all. Sadly.

  • Cute package
  • Great price
  • Nice pigmentation
  • I didn’t notice any smudge
  • Decent volume but not a wow effect

  • it tends to clump if you apply more than you should,
  • it dries quickly
  • the brush doesn’t really separate the eyelashes
  • no curling effect whatsoever

My rating would be somewhere around 7. I prefer Maybelline’s One by One Volume Express and that’s a fact.

Anyone try it ? What did you think of it?

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

What’s on your face this weekend?

This weekend is nothing special but just a plain, warm and sunny spring weekend. No special reason to celebrate something but that doesn’t stop us from being sexy and specials.

Generally on Saturday mornings I go to yoga classes. I find yoga very relaxing and helps me put my mind at ease. So after the yoga class my makeup is very light: little foundation or a BB cream, a little eyepencil here and there, a stroke of mascara and ready, steady, here we go for some coffee or a brunch with my friends.

I have many eye pencils, all colours and shades as I have a fascination for this genious beauty tools that help you with a quick make up in no time at all. Lately, for the weekend light makeup I’ve been stuck on two pencils mostly: Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil and Maybelline Master Smoky.

Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil
it’s a 2 in 1 gel shadow and liner. I have it in shade 40, which is a very nice golden shade that is very suited for day wear and also, if you have oily skin like I do and use a primer, this product can last a decent 8 hours wear.

I fell in love with Master Smokey as soon as I lay my hands on it. I mean, this id a work of a genius: a double cap shadow pencil with smudge. My first choice was a colour called Smoky Chocolate, which is a very nice warm brown, but I have also seen other interesting shades in this gama. It builds up very nicely and doesn’t crease for a long time.

When night falls, you know it’s party time. So my makeup will change accordingly.

This night I’m going to use Toleriane Teint foundation. As I have mentioned before, currently I’m having some problems with my skin as my rosacea is having a breakout moment and this foundation is a fluid corrective one specially designed for people with sensitive skin. It has a medium to full coverage,  SPF 25 but it dries very quickly so you have to work with small quantities for a good blend in. My help on this matter is my beloved Real Techniques buffing brush, a work of wonder.

Makeup Forever HD Powder will be used on top of that, as I love this product so much ( but I will have a separate review for it).

For my eyes I have decided to use the Sleek Makep Acid pallete. With Sleek Makeup is always a love-hate relationship as their products are so hyped and look nice but for the price I’m paying here in Romania their quality does not wow me. For instance, this mineral eyeshadows are quite chalky and you need to work quite long on building them up for a longer wear. But the colours are realy nice, funky and fun to wear.

For the finishing touches, a little bit of perfume; one of my favorites is Givenchy Amarige -a very sexy and sweet fragnance.

So, what are you going to wear on your face this weekend?

Until then, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

February Favorites

You could say that February was definitely a month for beauty 101 as I finally bought myself the Core Collection. I mean, it’s never too late, is it? As a result, I have concentrated my efforts into makeup.

This is the month when I discovered this wonderful powder blush from NYX Cosmetics (Peach shade). Generally, I am not a big fan of blushes due to my complexion (fair skin, naturally dark blond hair, with a little too rosy cheeks you’ve got a Heidi wanna be). But the main advantage of this blush is that it has a soft pigment that makes it very discreet on your face when you blend it well. Downside: it’s a slightly powdery.

For mascara, I have finally come to the conclusion that Maybelline kicks asses! Currently I am using One by One Volum Express. This is my third kind of mascara from Maybelline that I am trying and  it has it all: the right dosage, one of the best brushes, natural look and for a drugstore product they are great.

L’Oreal Accord Parfait liquid foundation has been my “partner in crime” for two months now. Although my skin is very fine for a 32 years old person, occasionally I have problems with blemishes. This foundation has a very natural color, it covers so well and it’s perfectly adapted for oily skin types. Cons: not as resistant on your face as I read on so many blogs. Oh, well, for a product that I;ve bought in the spur of the moment, it was a very wise choice.

Last but not least, Honeymania shower gel is a recent acquisition from Body Shop. I am a big fan of honey based products. This one has a rich heathen flavor that reminds me of wildflowers and musk. The skin remains soft with a discreet happiness scent.

Until next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
