January empties

image

Hello beauties,

You may have noticed that against all odds this January has been a busy month and for me it was at some point some extraordinary stress to accompany that. I believe this to be a warning signal for us to adapt to life’s new rhythm and take it easy especially when it seems impossible to do so.

Within this first month of 2015 there was a suspect number of products that came close to being part of this post so probably in February we’ll have a lot to talk about. But in this post I’e decided to include some products that were included as samples when purchased with other products from the same brand.

Nails:

  • Farmec Top Coat – not the first time to say it, but I like to say it anyway: this brand holds one or Romanian’s best products sold at a fair price. Their nail polishes found in stores and supermarkets are in a limited color gamma and their online store is only a bit better, nevertheless, with a few exceptions, I’m a mindless buyer when it comes to their products

Hair:

  • MorrocanOil Repair Conditioner – at the beginning of last year I started coloring my hair and, because I’m a natural blonde, going blonde all the way it seemed the right move for me to do. With blonde hair comes responsibility of constant caring for your locks, so this is how I started my love affair with Morrocanoil,  a brand that right now I would recommend without a flick. Conditioner it is a must in the beauty ritual and if you want to find out more, click here for the full review of this product.

Face:

  • KIKO Hydrating Mask – for the moment I’ve ended all KIKO masks that I had and until a new order from their online store or a visit to a country where their stores are like Starbucks I’m going to make a short break from their skincare products. The masks are very nice and have really sassy fragrances but currently my skin deserves more attention on the sensitive side. To make them justice click here for the full review.
  • Nivea Pure & Natural face cream – generally, I like Nivea’s products but this face cream was a total disappointment. In my defense, I was not the one to buy it, but my boyfriend bought it for me as an emergency measure for crashing at his place without any baggage. Lesson was learned, next time I will be more specific but I would not recommend this product further considering two major points: the fragrance was too much my skin could handle and the moisturizing effect was close to non-existent for the dry parts of my skin.
  • Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus -I spoke briefly about this serum here, but in the meantime I’ve started actually using it (for a couple of weeks, only in the evening) and really liked it as it felt an efficient addition to moisturizing process and I would want to try this product in full size.

Makeup:

  • Urban Decay Anti-aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion – this sample was part of my Naked 3 palette (see here the experience). I’ve used all this sample for the New Year’s Eve party makeup and if it wasn’t for such experience this sample would have been sufficient for two makeup looks. It didn’t make all the  wrinkles disappear but it lasted better than any of my other primers. Bottom line, when I came home in the morning my makeup was flawless and this product made it on my wishlist.
  • ELF Daily Brush Cleaner – another brand that I like, because you can find very good products at decent price. This product is a decent brush cleaner that will not ruin your wallet and is a good alternative for a quick sanitation of these utensils that we love so much. Click here for the full review.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

2014 favorites – another shortlist

2014 favorites - shortlist

Hello beauties,

As I read that planet Mercury is retrograde until February, I believe it is a good time to revive, refresh, review, etc. So I realized that a year has passed and I did not share with you my shortlist of favorite products from 2014. So, without further notice, here are my four products that I favored in 2014 and if the case, I would take with me on a deserted island or (if the adventure is not that Robinson Crusoe style) in an normal baggage:

  • Urban Decay Naked 3 makeup palette – in general,Urban Decay has nice products but some of them has succeeded into making cult products. Naked palettes have been around for a while, during which every women has decreeded her favorite. There are three words that sum up my review for my Naked 3: I love it! For the full review click here.
  • Bioderma Sensibio AR face cream – I have used this face cream on and off over a year and it has been a faithful friend in need in times of stress and face redness (click here for the full review)
  • Soap&Glory Sexy Mother Pucker lip-gloss – I haven’t actually reviewed this lipstick but I have mentioned it passing by (see here a sample) although it deserves a full review – it ads a really sexy gloss, it has very nice natural colors, and (the major plus ) it hydrates the lips incredibly well (so well that I renounced my lip moisturizer)
  • Morrocanoil treatment for fine hair – an interesting product, which literally saved my hair when I started my blonde journey. I would recommend it for anyone that colours her hair or just has a dry hair

What are your favorites from 2014?

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Morrocan Oil Repair Conditioner

m

Hello beauties!

Lately I’m quite focused on hair-care, and, while it is not a bad thing per se, it generally scandalizes my boyfriend in regards with all the shopping I do and how his shelf in the bathroom is slowly but steady diminishing in favor of this new products. Well, as one would say, life is not fair…

Also, I’m not fully convinced to that is good to stick with a hair product for a long time, especially if that product did not perform miracles. Not that I have any problems with my hair whatsoever, just that I have been coloring it blonde for almost a year now. So, establishing the terms, I’ve upgraded my conditioner to this one from Morrocan Oil.

One word of advice, because the brand has so much hype around it, pay attention to the fakes out there, especially if you purchase the product online.

Pro’s:

  • claims a strengthening formula that has anti-oxidant rich argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids
  • it leaves my hair soft and manageable
  • very thick texture
  • helps de-tangle the hair in a gentle way
  • nice fragrance

Con’s:

  • pricey; especially considering the small bottle (250 ml)
  • of course it’s not going to make your hair look like a commercial

In terms of performance I haven’t noticed any unheard-of results better than any average mask/conditioner but that’s what marketing is all about. Nevertheless it’s a product I would recommend for you to try if you have some money to burn.

Leave a short comment describing your experience with this product if you had one.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Weekend beauty haul

Hello ladies!

Whenever I have a moment of not knowing state of mind (what to wear, what’s my next favorite make-up, etc) I go shopping.

This month I’ve decided that my hair needed some pampering so MorrocanOil treatment for fine hair was the next step. This is a product that I’ve wanted so bad and it is over-hyped on the Internet so when I’ve found a site with a substantial sale I could not help myself.

Chubby lipsticks are invading drugstores and hypermarkets this spring and I’ve stumbled upon an offer from Astor (approx. 3€ ) for their Soft Sensation Lipcolor Butter. I could not resist this orange shade: Feeling Feline.
And because this lipstick was not as nourishing as I’ve imagined, I got this drugstore lip balm from Himalaia Herbals. It smells divine and really helps your drying and chapping lips.

I’m not much of a makeup palettes fan, but this NYX Caribbean Collection has caught my eyes with 5 gorgeous neutral shades, their best selling eye shadows. It is very pretty and I will come with a review very soon. And what’s a makeup palette without some good brushes? I’m a big Pixiwoo fan so it had to be Real Techniques. I have the Core Collection and now I’ve bought the Starter Set for eyes.

I’m a daily primer consumer and because of my skin condition I like color correct primers. Preferably silicon based as my oily skin sometimes is very difficult to work with. I’ve decided to give NYX another chance with Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer.

As you see, my budget was safe this month but I will have a lot of reviews to come back at.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
