Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips – Classic Nude

pf

Hello beauties!

As the nude palettes craziness seems has hit us women hard and seems it won’t go anywhere, today I’m going to share with you some thoughts about this palette from Physicians Formula. This palette is part of their famos Shimmer Strips collection

I’ve been reading a lot of comparisons of this product with the Urban Decay Nakeds but I don’t see the point as this one from PF contains 9 shimmery colors meant for basically three classical smokey eyes look, demonstrated on the package ( natural, playful and dramatic).

Pro’s:

  • packaging – the plastic case is covered with a nice black lace layer giving the whole thing a very lady-like appearance
  • nude diversity – if you love nude colors, these are indeed very pretty, in a girly style.
  • the shimmer is quite discreet, nothing gliterry
  • wet&dry application
  • blend easily
  • claims: hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free, gluten free (excuse me?)

Con’s:

  • sponge applicator – is it really necessary after all this brush hype?
  • colors – when used dry you have to use quite a lot for the color to appear vibrant on your eyelid
  • duration – even with primer (a couple of days I’ve used one from Too Faced and other day I’ve used one from E.L.F.) it clumped in the creases of the eyelids after a couple of hours

Overall, I’m glad that this palette is so small and the price in the drugstore was quite low. If I would have ordered it online, considering the taxes and all, I would have been very sorry. I don’t know how these colors react if you have dry skin (probably a better overall result) but it is a nice palette to play with and very good for women that don’t need investing time in makeup.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

sleekHello beauties!

I’ve been wanting to write a review about this palette for a while but I guess being in the middle of the “natural/nude palette madness” helped a lot .

In the morning I am a very lazy person but I never renounce at putting makeup on. And generally nude colors are really suited for a well balanced look at a corporate office (yes, nobody wants you too look like you’ve came from a club, no matter how good the final result it is) and mistakes are easily corrected or more hardly noticed with this kind of colors. So it’s makeup 101.

The colors remind me a lot of Naked 2 palette and the 12 names are a pretty funny mix of sensations, names and objects (top down, left to right): Nougat (ivory matte white), Nubuck (light matte grey), Cappuccino (matte light beige), Honeycomb (matte light orange), Toast (matte peach), Taupe (shimmery dirty brownish pink), Conker (shimmery cranberry), Moss (shimmery olive), Bark (matte dark brown), Mineral Earth (metallic bronze), Regal (matte eggplant), Noir (matte dark grey).

Thus being said, let’s get down to business.

Pro’s:

  • package: slim, compact, well suited for transportation (every day bag or suitcase)
  • out of 12 colors, including both matte ans shimmery, you have a large possibility of mix and match;
  • very good for day to night transitions
  • the color selection is more on the cool side but will go with any eyecolor or skin type
  • the shimmery colors are very subtle
  • nice pigments – my favorites are: Cappuccino, Taupe, Regal and Moss

Con’s:

  • the applicator sponge (or brush in the newer versions of the palette) – worthless
  • texture – quite dusty and chalky even when blended
  • lasting – even with primer, the shades do not resist on a whole day long marathon

My rating: 6/10. I was a little bit disappointed by this palette, as another thing that Internet raved about but the product didn’t deliver in spite of the fact that I still think that the color selection is versatile and quite appealing and the fact that the palette is quite cheap it saves face in the eyes of the consumers on a budget.

What is your opinion about Sleek Au Naturel?

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)

NYX The Caribbean Collection

image

Hello ladies! I hope your spring has been so far of beautiful surprises.
Mine surely is as I have recently found out my childhood friend is going to marry next year in June and I’m so happy for her.

Talk about surprises – this NYX palette was bought in a sale rush ( I know, it’s not smart shopping, but be honest at least and say you like those too) not knowing what to expect. I understand now that the color combination is vast in the Caribbean Collection but the one I chose it is called Dream of Aruba. This is an incredible collection of neutral colors and this palette has becomed part of my daily makeup routine because it is so easy to work with. It’s a no-brainer!

The pallete contains a copper, a rusty red, a gold, a bronze and a yellowish taupe shadow. All have a very nice shimmer and they are perfect for whatever event you are using them ( work, a night out, etc).

Pro’s:
– highly pigmented
– soft texture
– long lasting
– hypoallergenic
– package is perfect for travel

Con’s:
– you’d better use them with a primer
– sponge applicator is useless

Overall, this is a product that I would recommend having it around in your makeup drawer.

My rating: 8/10.

Until the next time, wear red lipstick and glitter all the way:-)
